Shadows of Hidden Hill (Web Series)

Youtube is a wonderful thing. I mean let’s be honest, it is definitely oversaturated with pointless garbage, but at the same time it has given indie video producers a platform to go solo and showcase their chops.

Which brings me to our topic of the night, the new web series “Shadows of Hidden Hill”.

Shadows of Hidden Hill is a Horror/Supernatural web series produced by GripWrite Productions.

I came across the channel a few months back when it was advertised by an acquaintance of mine Peter Herold, who stars in the first episode as a demented mortician who is trying to talk his son into following out the show’s tag line “Take the head and silence the dead”. I won’t go into too much detail about the plot line because I don’t want to be that guy who spoils shit.

What I do want to talk about is the vibes.

This isn’t just another run of the mill youtube series made by amature enthusiasts. The minds behind Hidden Hill know what they are doing both technically, and viscerally. We are talking about great production value in the ways of cinematography, narrative, setting, and sound design among other aspects. You can see the process in their short behind the scenes videos (I love watching behind the scenes videos).

As far as comparisons go, I get some classic Carpenter feels, some Evil Dead vibes, and even some Twin Peaks vibes in there (probably because I am obsessed with the reboot on showtime).

Bottom line is that I really enjoy what I am seeing, and each short episode (between 6-10 minutes in length) leaves me wanting more. This is a show horror fans will want to keep an eye on, the potential here is huge.

So far there are two episodes (which are embedded below)
